Office of Licensing

OL mission statement

To ensure quality health and safety services for all people in Utah.

About us

The Office of Licensing (OL) is one of two offices that make up the Department of Health and Human Services Division of Licensing and Background Checks (DLBC). OL is dedicated to protecting the health and safety of vulnerable populations. We accomplish this by establishing health and safety standards and conducting ongoing inspections and assessments at licensed programs for compliance with those standards.

In addition to monitoring for compliance, OL offers licensed providers guidance and training to help meet the established standards. OL also provides the public with accurate information about standards, processes, and provider compliance history.

OL is organized into three sections. Each section licenses and monitors a different type of program. The OL sections are Human Services, Child Care, and Health Facilities. Click on the buttons below to learn more about and access resources specific to each section.
